Our Hiring Process

Six gates before a caregiver ever steps into a client’s home.

Most agencies say background-checked. We document each step so you can ask about any of them.

Step 1: Application Screen

Work history, stability and longevity in caregiving roles, screen out anyone whose history does not fit. First phone screen is a real conversation.

Step 2: Full Background Check

Criminal background and sex offender registry, plus verified driver’s license and current auto insurance. Every hire, before any client home. We pay for the background check ourselves.

Step 3: References

Two professional references, called personally. Specific questions: showed up on time, complaints, comfort with dementia or post-discharge.

Step 4: In-Person Interview

How they carry themselves. How they handle hypotheticals. Whether the warmth on the phone holds up in person.

Step 5: Training Before First Shift

Visit-verification system, basic safety, dementia communication and de-escalation, infection control, documentation, family communication.

Step 6: Insured & Bonded

General liability and bonded caregivers. Legal and financial protection sits on us, not on your family. Proof on request.

Caregiver and senior sharing a warm moment in a home kitchen.
Step 7: ongoing supervision.
Hiring Well Is Half the Work

Keeping standards high is the other half.

Caregivers who do not meet our standards do not stay on the team. The reverse is also true: the caregivers who stay long-term are the ones we trust enough to send back to the same families week after week.

  • Standing family check-insA regular conversation with the family is part of the relationship, not an exception when something is wrong.
  • Newer caregivers paired with experiencedIn the early weeks of a new case, especially harder ones (dementia, post-discharge), so judgment is shared.
  • We move quickly when something is offA complaint, a missed shift, a pattern. We do not let it sit and we do not let it slide.
  • Long-term caregivers earn the same familiesThe consistency you read about on our other pages is built right here, on Step 7.

“My great grandma is 100 years old (literally) and they take amazing care of her. Katie has great communication and locks in on any concerns or questions we have. I highly recommend!”
